10,000 Beretta and Glock Guns

Guatemala's government plans to buy 10,000 guns for the national police force.

The Ministry of Interior has announced the acquisition of personal weapons for the National Civil Police (PNC), through the Military Industry.

In the month of February, during the graduation of more than 1,600 new police men and women, the interior minister, Mauricio Lopez Bonilla said the deficit in weapons in the institution amounted to 5000 pistols.

"The technical decision was taken for the ordinary police constables to use the Prieto Police Beretta's and the Glock's will be used by special operations", said Minister Mauricio Lopez.
