The Government of Germany promised to help with $73 million for development project, doubling the current amount for assistance.
"As a result of the meeting, the Government of Germany will support the Government of Guatemala with a significant increase in its financial and technical cooperation, for a total of 58 million Euros (some $73 million) for a period of three years," said the report from the Guatemalan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A new trade mission to Germany involving local companies is being coordinated by the German-Nicaraguan Business Club and in September companies from the European country will arrive in Nicaragua.
The German government's initiative intends to further strengthen business and trade relations between the two countries. In 2013 Germany was the fourth largest international purchaser of Nicaraguan products.
Germany offered the loan at a favorable interest rate, in order to create and build landfills and recycling centers.
In his meeting with President Funes, the German officer received reports of plans developed in Central America related to climate change, security, disaster prevention and others.
Besides thanking the Germany for financing the projects, the Salvadoran President explained to German officials other points related to modernization of the public sector and the fiscal policies to be carried out in El Salvador.
"Panama is the main destination for German investments in Central America," said Ubertus Legge, economic adviser at the German Embassy in Panama.
The Embassy does not keep track of the flow of investment nor could they indicate the total amount of investment and data for all the companies that have entered the Panama market in the last few years, however they did point out that said investments have increased considerable during the last decade.
The event will be held on November 17th, with the participation of 8 German companies from the renewable energy industry.
Dubbed Symposium on Renewable Energies "Made in Germany", the event will take place in Hotel Crowne Plaza Corobicí, and is being organized by the Costa Rican - German Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
The two countries have signed an agreement to avoid double taxation of income in the commercial use of ships and aircraft.
