They denounce that Salvadoran authorities hid information on a vaccination campaign.
Jorge Ulloa, president of the National Poultry Farmers Association of Honduras, remarked that El Salvador certified one of its farms as free of avian flu, when that was not true.
Tiempo.hn published more statements by Ulloa: "They officially lied, and now any sanity related deal with El Salvador is obviously questionable".
Two poultry farms will begin to export eggs and on a second phase chicken meat to El Salvador after having been certified by that country.
Daily production by the poultry sector is about 2.34 million eggs per day.
Yesille C. Ponce reported the words of Jorge Ulloa, president of the Honduran Farmers’ Association, in LaPrensahn.com: "Products that will be exported include fertile eggs, chicks for fattening, laying hens, chicken meat and eggs, those that are predominant in the country."
78 million chickens were produced in 2008 and they expect to reach one million laying hens in 2009.
Jorge Ulloa, president of the National Association Honduran Farmers told La Prensa that they "will continue exporting to Central American countries like Guatemala and El Salvador. They also want to open the market in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and the Caribbean," and that "they will continue exporting chicken legs to China."
