In Costa Rica the municipality of Escazú plans to invest $6 million in the construction of a sports village, which will include a gym for 1,500 people, an amphitheater, confectionery store and function rooms.
The Comptroller General of the Republic has authorized the Municipality of Escazú to build a sports village on a plot of land in the district of San Antonio.
In 2016 Central American countries imported $81 million worth of sports articles and equipment, 8% more than in 2015.

Between January and September 2016, the countries in the region imported in total a monthly average of $6 million worth of sporting goods and equipment.

The government of Costa Rica has announced that it is working on a tender to be launched in early 2017 for the construction of a 25 thousand square meter aquatic center and a 36,000 meter sports center in San Jose.
From a statement issued by the Government of Costa Rica:
The presentation of specifications, financing, social impact studies, sporting information, recreational information and schedule for the project, which is estimated will be ready in 29 months, was made the Minister of Sport, Carolina Mauri, in a ceremony attended by athletes.The two works add up to an investment of $40 million.
Under construction in the province of Alajuela is a 300 thousand square meter multi-park to be used for different types of events, including car racing.
The company Bliss Entretenimiento, a subsidiary of Grupo Nación is responsible for developing the work, which will include "... an amphitheater, an events center, a revamped race circuit, parking for 6000 vehicles and new green areas."

The funds are intended to complete construction works at the National Stadium.
This is the last non-refundable payment agreed in 2007, when diplomatic relations were established between the two countries, with China granting assistance for $ 130 million dollars.

UNA, the National University, plans to build an integral health care center in Heredia, Costa Rica.
The complex, which will have gymnasiums, pools and an athletics track, will offer preventive health and rehabilitation services. Construction is expected to start in 2011.
Randal Gutiérrez Vargas, from UNA, told newspaper Prensa Libre: "...these facilities will be used by everyone: children, adults, senior citizens, athletes, as well as young adults and teenagers, who need physical development...".
