Between January and July, 43,000 new companies were registered, 19% more than in the same period in 2016, when 36,000 companies were registered.
Figures from the General Mercantile Registry of Guatemala (RMG) show that "from January to July, 43,130 individual traders, mercantile companies, national and foreign companies were registered, while in 2016 36,133 were registered, that is to say 6,997 less."

From January there will be a fall of up to 50% in rates for registry services for the registration of assets, rights and guarantees for SMEs.
The National Assembly approved the rates for public registrations in the national registration system, which will take effect on January 1, 2016.

The Mayoral office of Panama announced that this month it will begin the first phase of digitizating processes for admissions, reviews, registrations and approvals of plans of works to be developed in the district capital.

Documents are being prepared for the tender in February of the design and implementation of a Vehicle Registry system, which will be migrated from the Executive Revenue Department to the Property Institute.

The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) has hit a new milestone for the Panamanian Merchant Marine, having registered the first ship mortgage in the English language.
A bill aims to grant operating licenses every five years, categorizing companies according to the type of service they provide and to create a National Registry for Private Security Companies.
This bill seeks to regulate the 160 companies that offer the service nationwide and the companies that provide this service without any commercial purpose and to establish, among other things, to ensure the amounts collected from fees by these companies will be used to strengthen the National Police force.
