Supermercados La Colonia has announced it will invest $27 million in opening five new stores in the second half of the year, totaling 12 thousand square meters of sales floor.
The company founded on Honduran capital has announced that with the five new stores the total stores it will have nationwide will rise to 35.
On 22nd and 23rd of May next year the second edition of the trade fair dedicated to businesses in the agricultural sector will be held in San Pedro Sula.

The second edition of Agromercados-Honduras 2014, will be held on 22nd and 23rd May 2014, at Expo-Center San Pedro Sula, in which the Organizing Committee has organized the participation of national, regional and international buyers, 150 exhibitors, 500 business meetings, 20 Lectures, given by experts renowned nationally and internationally on issues such as: Agricultural Health, Agribusiness, Finance, Marketing and others.
Domestic chains have opened several stores in the last 6 months or plan to open new stores in the industrial city of Honduras.
La Colonia opened two supermarkets in the last six months and in June it plans to open its 24th store.
"In the first quarter of 2013 construction will begin of new premises on Boulevard East exit to La Lima," said Sergio Guevara, manager for the northern zone of the supermarket La Colonia, reports Laprensa.hn.
With an investment of one million dollars, Supermarkets La Colonia, has opened store number 22 in Honduras.
Located in the Premier de Comayagüela Mall, the 1,500 square meter supermarket has generated 60 direct jobs and over 180 indirect jobs.
Latribuna.hn reported quoted Fernando Caceres, La Colonia’s marketing manager who said, "We are extending our services to all areas of our country, we invite all Honduran families in the area north of Tegucigalpa not to miss the amazing variety of national and international products that only La Colonia offers."
The companies Diunsa and Supermercados La Colonia have joined forces in this $25 million project to build the 20,000 m2 commercial hub in Honduras.
The ambitious project, which is expected to be completed by next October, comprises the construction of a center including offices, financial plaza, restaurant area, new Diunsa superstore and the first La Colonia supermarket in the north of Honduras.
The supermarket chain expects to open 4 new stores for the remainder of 2009.
Two stores will be built in Tegucigalpa and two in other regions of the country, explained Paul Handal, Operations and Development Director at La Colonia Supermarkets.
"For 2010, the supermarket chain expects to own 16 stores, with more than 5.000 daily customers per store.
