Volvo Do Brasil Vehículos won the contract to supply 203 buses for operation of the system for mass mobilization of passengers in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito.
Data from CentralAmericaData's information system indicates that Transporte Masivo de Panamá, S.A. awarded the contract by an exceptional recruitment procedure, with an amount of $35,859,138.
Metro de Panama has started the process of selecting companies to participate in the tender to design and build Line 3 of the Panama Metro, with funding of $2.6 billion.

The financing agreement signed between the governments of Panama and Japan includes a non-refundable $35 million for recruitment of the Project Management company.

Panama today finalized a landmark agreement with Japan for financing of up to B /. 2,600 million to be used for the construction of Line 3 of Metro de Panama, the country's largest public infrastructure project since the Canal Expansion.
The Master Plan includes 90 stations to provide transport service for Panama City and its metropolitan area: San Miguelito, Arraiján and La Chorrera.

The hiring process will be made 'by exception' and will be the responsibility of the Minister for Canal Affairs and head of the Panama Metro Secretariat of the Ministry of the Presidency, Roberto Roy.
The Panama Metro Secretariat is not ruling out that in the future it could be a corporation which administers the Metro.
This was announced by the Secretariat in response to questions made by the Panamanian Society of Engineers and Architects (SPIA) regarding the operation and management of the Metro.
SPIA's President, Rodrigo Sanchez, questioned the fact that with six months to go before the first tests of the Metro line one, people dont know who will be responsible for its administration, the cost of tickets and where will subsidies for passes will come from, among other concerns.

The Minister of the Presidency, Jimmy Papadimitriu reported that the Transit and Land Transport Authority (ATTT) has contracted, by a special procedure, the Urban Equipment company of Panama, SA (EUPAN) to handle the study, design, construction, supply and installation of "pay zones" for users of the new Metro Bus transport system in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito.
The Ministry of Public Works concessions the design, construction and supply of 500 Metro Bus stops.
The Ministry of Public Works Public will tender the right to supply, install, maintain, preserve, develop, manage, use, usufruct, repair, replace, improve, build and operate 500 bus stops with the following characteristics:
-478 Standard Stops
-20 Pay Zones and / or Transfer Points
The Ministry of Works will award construction and management of Metrobus stops for $200 million.
Currently, Equipamientos Urbanos de Panamá (EUPAN) holds a contract with the Municipality of Panama City expiring in 2023.
With regards to the current contract the Minister of the Presidency, Demetrio Papadimitriu, explained that it is null and void because it was awarded by the Mayor´s office and current legislation stipulates that the power to award such contracts lies with the Ministry of Public Works (MOP ), reported Pa-digital.com.pa.
Chilean Consortium Sonda SA won the tender to manage the new mass transit system.
The concession was granted to the firm for a period of ten years.
"Sonda is responsible for recharging the cards for access to Metro Bus as set out in the terms and conditions of the bid, once the card system becomes operational one thousand points of sale will be available, of which 10% will be run 24 hours a day," reported the article in Prensa.com.
Sonda, Confya, Panama Card and Metro Recaudo submitted bids to manage the Metro Bus transportation system.
The proposals ranged between $ 118 and $ 229 million.

The 43 buses which will join the new Metro Bus system, arrived the Panamanian port of Manzanillo.
The arrival of the 43 buses from Colombia, add to the first 11 units which entered the country a week ago.
These 54 buses form the first group of 120 units required to start operations in the South Corridor, planned for late December.
In the next 10 days or so, said Minister of the Presidency, Jimmy Papadimitriu, the new system will begin operating in the South Corridor and in January of next year, it will change the entire public transport fleet which uses the Northern Corridor.
