The US Government will push the Free Trade Agreement with Panama "relatively quickly," said the Office of the United States Trade Representative.
Prensa.com publishes that the USTR indicated in a Trade Strategy document delivered to congress that "we expect to advance the FTA with Panama relatively quickly."
It is also stated that the Obama administration is preparing an action plan on how to proceed with the agreement, which was negotiated by the Bush administration.
The House of Representatives gave final approval on Friday to the $700 billion bailout for the financial system.
At 1:21 p.m., applause and cheers echoed through the House chamber as the number of “aye” votes crossed the threshold needed for passage with just seconds remaining in the official 15-minute voting period. The vote was 263 to 171.
U.S. President George W. Bush will receive his counterpart from Guatemala, Álvaro Colom, next Monday when he is in Washington for a three'day official visit.
Official sources say the agenda will be very broad, and will include themes like the anti-drug battle, the oil crisis, immigration and trade.
