The order worth some $375 million includes eleven E-190 planes, pilot and technical training, as well as the adaptation for the maintenance of the aircrafts.
The huge Brazilian plane maker, Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica S.A. (Embraer), delivered the pane to TACA on Friday. It is the first of 11 E-190 jets ordered last year by the Central American airline.
The airline's newest destinations, for which flights will begin in the next two months, will be done using 11 new Embraer E190 jets.
Starting October 15, TACA will begin to fly from San Jose, Costa Rica to Havana, Cuba and to Panama with the first Embraer E190 jet that will join its fleet, according to a press release from the airline.
Then, on November 15, the planes will be used on their routes between Guatemala, El Salvador and Managua; "the latter will now have the long awaited direct flights," the release added.
