Since October 18th, the Panama Canal Authority is charging company Cilsa Minera María $10.000 a day.
The company is in charge of the second dry excavation project, but has experienced delays and has not been able to finish on schedule.
"Cilsa was awarded a $25.4 million contract by submitting the lowest priced bid among eight competitors. According to the contract, they had 670 calendar days to finish the project (the deadline was October 18th 2009)", reported Prensa.com.
