The government has announced that the ban on importing firearms will stay in place until August 6, 2015.
From a resolution of the Ministry of Public Security:
It is resolved:
To extend the suspension of the import of weapons allowed in the country by companies duly authorized to apply for licenses from the Ministry for importing such goods. State Security and the security services of state institutions are excepted.
The Ministry of Public Security has extended for another 30 days the ban on importing firearms.

The Ministry of Public Security has extended for a period of 30 days, the suspension of imports of firearms allowed for use in the country to duly authorized companies.
The suspension decision was published on 6 May in Official Gazette, through resolution No.
An announcement has been made of a new regulation for the import and sale of weapons while at the same time a ban on imports has been extended for six months.
The regulation being prepared aims to implement new measures such as: understanding what caliber of weapons should be restrictd, the size of the suppliers that may be used, the type of psychological tests to be applied to people, and revocation of permits already issued, among other things.
