Empresa Nicaragüense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados is putting out to tender the supervision of improvement and expansion of the water system of the city of Chichigalpa and construction of the sewer system in the city of Malpaisillo.

"Empresa Nicaragüense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ENACAL) - UA PISASH is tendering professional engineering services (81100000) for the Supervision of Improvement and Extension of the Water System of the City of Chichigalpa and the Construction of a Sewerage System in the City of Malpaisillo. "
In Panama an award has been given to Constructora Urbana SA for a contract for the design and construction of an aqueduct, sanitation network and wastewater treatment plant in Boquete.
The National Council for Sustainable Development received a total of 9 proposals, the highest was presented by the company ININCO, S.A. for a total value of $25.9 million, followed by the company Consultores Profesionales de Ingeniería, S.A.
An agreement has been made to transfer resources to the Institute of Aqueducts and Sewage Systems in order to carry out water treatment works, buy equipment and renovate wells.
The new budget will be used to buy pumps to renovate wells, "... dredging rivers, purchase of equipment and chemicals needed to purify the raw water, well renovations and employment of at least 150 employees in key positions."
The Health Ministry is preparing the tender documents for the construction of a second module of the treatment plant in Juan Diaz, in the district of Panama.
With the second module of the treatment plant in Juan Diaz water in this area, coming from the rivers Tapia, Juan Diaz and Tocumen, will be treated. However, it is expected that a third module will be needed to treat water in areas such as Diciembre 24, Pacora and the reverted areas, for which an investment of $200 million is estimated.
Despite being one of the areas with the highest housing growth forecast for the coming years, the problem of drinking water shortages remains unresolved.
As in 2013 , employers in the area are once again denouncing the problems that exist due to lack of water treatment plants and new water sources in Arraiján and other districts in western Panama.
Some of the possible solutions being studied in the various policies on rural water, are the construction of a new water treatment plant, drilling from underground wells, reinforcing the use of tank trucks and restricting developments of the number of houses that can be built in each stage.
Sanitation, drinking water, construction and repair of schools are part of the works which the government announced will be carried out this year in Ngäbe Bugle.

The Cabinet Council held in Llano Tugrí approved projects in the fields of education, housing, health and infrastructure directly impacting 197.981 residents Ngäbe Bugle.
With a loan from South Korea the plan is to develop a project in the city of Juigalpa, whose tender will include an invitation to Korean companies to take part.
It is anticipated that the design of sewer system and water treatment plant will be done no later than April. The bidding process is scheduled to start in late March, with the construction of the project expected to take approximately three years.
The Central American Bank for Economic Integration has approved a loan for technical and physical renovation of the Water Treatment Plant in Las Pavas, in the department of Cuscatlan.

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) has approved a loan the to Republic of El Salvador in the amount of $64.4 million to finance the renovation project on Works for the Collection, Purification and Treatment of the Electromechanical Water Plant Las Pavas, the most important source of drinking water El Salvador.
The National Assembly has approved a loan from the CABEI to build water and sanitation systems, storage tanks, septic tanks, sewers and household connections.

Following the adoption of a decree for a $30 million loan signed between the Republic of Nicaragua and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI ), 121 rural municipalities will benefit from the implementation of the "Project for Sustainability Rural of Water and Sanitation"
Preparations are being made for February of the specifications of the tender to build and expand water treatment plants in Santiago, Veraguas and in different areas of the provinces of Panama and Panama Oeste.
At the moment conditions are being revised including the specifications for the tender and it is hoped that it will be published on the purchasing website in February.
The installation of 30,000 micrometers and 42 macrometers in several cities has been announced, as well as the construction of potable water and sewerage works.
Plans are to invest about $85 million in the construction of treatment plants and other projects in different areas.
Among the projects planned by the Nicaraguan Company of Aqueducts and Sewers (Enacal) are improvements to the household water service in the central area, the Pacific and Caribbean. In addition they will be investing $33.7 million on improving service and water quality in Chinandega.
The Central American Bank for Economic Integration has granted a loan to finance part of the program of works on Sustainability of Rural Water and Sanitation.

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) and the Government of Nicaragua signed a $30 million loan to finance the "Program for Sustainability of Rural Water and Sanitation".
The problem is not new and there are no short-term solutions in the pipeline to counter this difficulty which has slowed investment in several projects for urban and tourism developments.
According to the Costa Rican authorities "... housing growth has slowed ... that's a fact, and it will remain slow for years, because the investments being made are not enough."
The receipt of tenders for the design and construction of a collector for Rio Juan Diaz and complementary works in the Sanitation Project for the City and Bay of Panama, has been postponed until October 30, 2014.
