Through a credit line from CABEI, the Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewerage will finance the supply project for the Fifth Stage Metropolitan Aqueduct.
The megaproject, declared of public interest by the Government authorities, consists of the construction of 44.3 kilometers of pipelines, of which 8.6 kilometers are tunnels, a new water treatment plant and six storage tanks with a total capacity of 50,000 cubic meters.
The Ministry of the Presidency of Panama is tendering the rehabilitation, maintenance, operation and improvements to the oxidation ponds in several townships in the provinces of Los Santos, Herrera and Chiriqui.

In Guatemala, authorities in the municipality of Mixco threaten to close down textile companies, claiming that some companies are damaging the drainage system by emitting highly contaminated wastewater.
After representatives of the commune of Mixco made inspections in the collector located in Pablo VI Avenue, it was reported that the circulating water was dyed red and they accused the textile companies of being guilty of damaging the drains because of the emission of chemical waste in their wastewater.

The Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers is putting out to tender the renovation, operation and maintenance of 25 wastewater treatment plants in the provinces of Panama and Panama West.

The Panamanian government has signed a $100 million financing agreement with the CABEI for the sanitation program in the districts of Arraiján and La Chorrera.

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) today signed a US $100 million loan agreement with the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Panama (MEF) to finance the Sanitation Program for the Arraiján and La Chorrera Districts.
Fomilenio II will finance feasibility studies for four treatment plant projects and a one technical assistance project, all submitted by private companies, estimated at $32 million.
These five studies will have a cost of approximately $570,000, provided by FOMILENIO II, and will be used to determine the feasibility of public investments.Collectively, investors plan to invest $31.7 million.
