The Panama Metro Secretariat is not ruling out that in the future it could be a corporation which administers the Metro.
This was announced by the Secretariat in response to questions made by the Panamanian Society of Engineers and Architects (SPIA) regarding the operation and management of the Metro.
SPIA's President, Rodrigo Sanchez, questioned the fact that with six months to go before the first tests of the Metro line one, people dont know who will be responsible for its administration, the cost of tickets and where will subsidies for passes will come from, among other concerns.
The Government has $7.2 billion available in foreign loans to finance infrastructure projects such as roads, modernization of airports and metropolitan sewerage systems.
Most of the money is ready to be handed out whenever the Government requests it and could be used to finance roads, modernization of airports, the metropolitan sewerage system, educational programs and plans for preventing violence.

The Panamanian National Council for Sustainable Development is putting out to tenders the project management for the aqueducts and sewers system in Panama.
According to the specifications the tender is for Project Management services and Technical Assistance for the Project Study, Design, Construction, Equipment and operation of the enlargement and sustainable improvement of the Water and Sewer Systems of Panama.
Institutions and leading companies in Costa Rica are planning to run for the position of administrator of the National Telecommunications Fund.
Some 25 entities or organizations have shown interest in the project to implement the National Telecommunications Fund (Fonatel) which has funds of $180 million.
Some of the stakeholders are: Deloitte & Touche, Ernst &Young, Fundación Comisión Asesora en Alta Tecnología (Caatec), Fundación Costa Rica-Estados Unidos (Crusa), Fundación para la Investigación de la Universidad de Costa Rica (Fundevi) and Microsoft. 15 companies and at least 2 independent consultants participated in a preliminary hearing to the tender for the procurement of services to form the Management Unit of the Trust to be in charge of the projects of the National Telecommunications Fund (FONATEL).
A total of five consortiums have submitted proposals to manage and provide technical support for the construction and operation of the Panama Metro.
The lowest price offered came from Barcelona's Metropolitan Transport consortium - Aguas y Estructuras S.A, at $27.97 million. Next was the Técnica y Proyectos S.A. bid of $30.42 million, followed by tenders of $34.43, $35.47 and $37.9 million from MetroPan, Consorcio Gerencia Metro Panamá and SNC-Lavalin International Inc respectively.
