The competitive environment in the industrial sector in Jamaica is presenting opportunities for exporters of packaging products in Costa Rica. The high costs felt by manufacturers in the Caribbean country, along with the fact that food and beverage companies need to offer more affordable products for low-income consumers, has led to Jamaican companies being willing to evaluate the packaging options on offer in Costa Rica.
The increasing trend for Italian consumers to consume processed foods, is creating an opportunity for both food exporters and manufacturers of packaging.

The economic crisis in Italy has led to Italians reducing their habit of dining out, which caused a rise in the need for processed foods which accompany and facilitate cooking at home, specifically sauces, dressings and condiments, which must always maintain the best quality for a demanding market.
The Honduran Council of Private Enterprise is asking the Government to expedite arrangements for meat packers to export their products to Europe.
According to Aline Flores, president of the Honduran Council of Private Enterprise (Cohep), "what we are asking about, so we can be fully prepared, are some registrations that have to be filed with various government offices especially in the issue of meat and other products because there are certain phytosanitary requirements to be met in the European market. Official sources have reported that six shrimp farms and a packing plant located in the Department of Choluteca and Valle will be sold through public auction.
