In Guatemala, a guide is proposed to establish best practices in occupational safety and health for companies in the construction sector.
The Guatemalan Ministry of Labor and Social Security (Mintrab) and the Guatemalan Chamber of Construction (CGC), agreed to work together to exchange knowledge and experiences to strengthen standards in legislation, promotion of formality, labor inclusion, as well as the issue of Occupational Health and Safety, reported the Guatemalan government.
The entry into force of the new Regulation of Occupational Safety and Health has been Postponed until September 8.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security published in the official newspaper of August 11, 2014 the "Regulations for Occupational Health and Safety" to be observed by every employer.
Initially the start date was scheduled to be February 11, 2015; this date was moved by Governmental Agreement No. 51- 2015, to August 8, 2015 and then Government Agreement No. 199-2015 established the effective date to be September 8, 2015. Therefore, every employer has an additional month to implement the health and occupational safety measures, required by this Regulation.
The Ministry of Labour has introduced a bill which would require construction companies to pay from $19,000 to $100,000 per project and which would go to the Fund for Occupational Safety, Hygiene and Health.

The Minister of Labor and Workforce Development (MITRADEL), Luis Ernesto Carles, presented on Tuesday before the plenary of the National Assembly a bill that which adopts measures in the construction industry, in order to reduce the incidence of accidents in the workplace.
In Guatemala, the entry into force of the new Regulation for Occupational Health and Safety has been postponed until August 8, 2015.

Regulation of Occupational Health and Safety
The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare published in the official newspaper La Gaceta of August 11, 2014 Governmental Agreement No. 229-2014 through which issues the "Regulation of Occupational Health and Safety" must be observed by all employers. Its validity is from February 11, 2015, ie there are six months to implement the measures for occupational health and safety, required by this Regulation.
The international event will be held on 18th and 19th September in Panama City and will address issues related to law, technology and emergency response strategies.
