After the Netherlands decided not to give $21 million to the Ortega administration for the construction of the North Caribbean Regional Hospital, the Nicaraguan government assured that it will finance the work with its own resources.
According to official information, the hospital project, which will have a total cost of $82 million and will be financed by a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and funds from the Government of Nicaragua, is expected to begin construction on August 23.
The Ortega administration has announced that with a donation from the Japanese government it intends to build and equip a new hospital in Nueva Guinea, in the South Atlantic Region.
Without revealing details of the date on which the work might begin, representatives from the Japanese embassy in Nicaragua announced that they will finance the start of works on the new hospital, which will have a construction area of 6,649 m2with capacity for 132 beds, four operating rooms, an emergency room, and other services.
The Ortega administration has announced that a donation from the Dutch government will finance part of the construction and equipment of a new hospital in the North Caribbean.
Representatives from the Nicaraguan government explained that the donation is €18.7 million, approximately $21 million.
Elnuevodiario.com.ni reports that "...Rosario Murillo, through official media, explained that"... that donation will be added to aloan of $53 milliongranted by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) to finance construction of this new hospital in the North Caribbean. Execution of this project is planned to be carried out in three years, according to the loan contract."
For the last two years the National Hospital in La Union, El Salvador, has been without the necessary equipment needed to perform ultrasounds.
Given the lack of response from the Ministry of Health, the authorities of the National Hospital of La Union are requesting financial support from the private sector in order to get the ultrasound equipment necessary for providing care in consultations.
The donation will be delivered in three instalments, with the first $7.5 million handed over when the bilateral agreement is signed.

The governments of Panama and Taiwan signed Monday May 6 an act of donation of the first instalment to build a hospital in Bocas del Toro, which will bring great benefits to the province and the region of Ngabe Bugle.
A new hospital will be built in the sector of Chilibre y Las Cumbres, with funds donated by the Government of Taiwan
It is called "Hospital Panamá Norte", and once finished it will be administered by the Health Ministry, informed Chancellor Juan Carlos Varela.
