Due to favorable weather conditions, production for the present harvest has been estimated at 50 million pounds of mango, 43% more than in the previous harvest.
The results of this crop could help offset the decline suffered by mango production in the 2015/16 cycle, when a production of only 35 million pounds was achieved.
Exporters will start sending shipments of the fruit to the South American country once the admissibility process with Chilean authorities has been completed, which is scheduled for March.

The Mango Committee at AGEXPORT will be concluding the process of eligibility to export to Chile, next March after receiving a certification visit from Chilean SAG inspectors.Once this process is completed, Guatemalan exporters expect to start shipping fresh Guatemalan mangos to the South American country.
In addition to traditional mango exporters such as Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil and Guatemala, now India, Pakistan, and soon, Thailand will be exporting too.

The Mango industry has shown considerable growth in the last decade.Since 2005, the year of the creation of theNational Mango Board, volumes have increased by around 50%. "The value of the industry, however, has grown by 91 or 92% in that period," said Manuel Michel, from the National Mango Board.
DFT-Agrotropic has announced the start of operations of its new plant for processing mango and frozen pulp located in Champerico, Retalhuleu.
This year the company expects to export one million pounds of frozen products, a figure which it aims to increase to five million in 2017.Eddy Martinez, general manager of DFT-Agrotropic, said"... fruit will be received that has been grown directly for the frozen process, and contacts have already been established with producers in the region for this."
From January 4th this year exports will be permitted of Australian mangos to the North American country, with focus initially being given to the premium segment.

In an alert given in November 2014 the upcoming opening of the US market for mangoes from Australia was reported.
Rambutan, mangosteen, mango, cardamom, achiote, pepper, and other fruits and vegetables, are the products that are being offered in several Chinese cities.

Guatemalan agricultural products are seeking to enter the Chinese market
In order to open new markets for Guatemalan agricultural exporters, representatives from the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (AGEXPORT), public-private institutions, the PACIT trade program and entrepreneurs will be on a mission to Asia, from the August 31 to September 10.
The first shipment of domestic mango will be harvested in April 2011, and will be exported to England.
In Panama there are 118 hectares sown with export-quality mango. They are a genetic variation of a Peruvian seed.
“Panama sees this fruit as an opportunity to diversify its traditional export portfolio”, reported Prensa.com. “It is a new product to sell in markets in which the country already commercializes watermelon, melon and gourd”.
