In Costa Rica, the authorities reported that following the outbreak of covid-19 in the country, the measure prohibiting any activity of massive concentration of people remains in force and that companies organizing public shows have the obligation to return the money to consumers.
The ticketing companies or platforms for selling tickets must provide the entities that act as acquirers in transactions or purchases made by credit or debit cards, all the information required for the effective identification of the transactions corresponding to the cancelled event, immediately, explains an official statement.
The objective of the group is to improve the quality of services provided by companies dedicated to the organization of events and improve their recognition nationally and internationally.
With more than 25 companies dedicated to the organization and assembly of events, the new "Gremial de Profesionales en Eventos" was formed, attached to the Chamber of Commerce of Guatemala.
In 2014 organizing marriages for foreigners generated revenue of $30 million in the country, 25% more than the $24 million generated during 2013.
The trend of getting married in other countries is growing in developed economies such as the US, where most of the revenues in Guatemala generated from this activity came from. Although regionally Mexico dominates this market, Guatemala is looking to position itself as a wedding destination in Central America, making itself known in tourism fairs and increasing international promotion.
Between November 1st and the 4th foreign companies in the sector will be meeting with Guatemalan companies to learn about the supply of local products and services for events.

Several international personalities from various fields such as trade publications in weddings, event organizers, designers, chefs, among others, will be coming to Guatemala invited by the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT) and the union for Marketing Weddings and Honeymoons on a first trip for familiarization in this segment.
The Tourism Authority of Panama calling for companies to submit bids for the operation of the convention center.
The selection of the firm that will manage the convention center to be built in Amador at a cost of $194 million will not go through the PanamaCompra system. The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP), said that they know of experienced firms for the project, and therefore they will hold the tender by invitation.
Box office revenues from the show featuring Mexican Ocesa in Costa Rica, will be close to $17 million.
In the past two years an average of 30 major arts events have taken place in the Costa Rican capital, with an average annual income from ticket sales of $12 million.
"The Municipality of Alajuela estimates that the organizer of the show, Ocesa Costa Rica, will have to pay an amount which is close to $795,000, representing 5% city tax per ticket sold," noted an article in Elfinancierocr.com.
Three new convention centers will open within the next three years.
With an investment of $30 million, a project promoted by the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo, to be built in Barreal de Heredia. is expected to completed by the first quarter of 2014.
For his part Fernando Poma, Vice President of Real Hotels & Resorts (operator of the Intercontinental Hotel chain), will announce the start of construction of a facility with a 2,700 person capacity, in Guachipelín of Escazú this July.
