The SETEC-ARDANUY consortium will carry out studies to establish whether it is feasible to build an aerial cable network in Tegucigalpa.
The contract was signed between the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the consortium awarded for the consultancy, which will be in charge of developing the "Feasibility Studies of an Air Cable Transport Network for the Municipality of the Central District of the Republic of Honduras."
The contract for access to the railway network was signed between the Municipality of Guatemala and Ferrovías, which will serve for the construction project of a Metro Riel, an estimated investment of $772 million.
On July 29th in a ceremony held at the Museo del Ferrocarril del Centro Histórico, it was reported that in addition to the signing of the contract for access to the railway network between the Municipality of Guatemala and Ferrovias Guatemala (Fegua), also signed the bases of coordination between the Municipality, Fegua and Anadie, which will facilitate the development of the project.
In Guatemala, it is proposed to develop an underground metro that would connect in its initial phase the municipality of Mixco with Zone 15 of the capital and would require a $700 million investment.
The new project proposed is in addition to the several proposals and attempts that have been made to implement a mass transportation system in the metropolitan area of Guatemala, which resolves at once the serious problem of road congestion affecting the capital. Thus, in addition to the Metro Riel project and the urban cable cars between Mixco, Villa Nueva and the capital, a new initiative has now been added to build an underground train.
The Government of Guatemala announced that it expects to invest next year in Line 7 of the Transmetro system, which will have a total fleet of 35 buses and 32 stations.
The Direction of Urban Mobility of the Guatemalan Government presented a $28 million estimate for the project to implement the Transmetro route that will cover from the Mariano Galvez University in zone 2 to the University of San Carlos in zone 12, which will cross the Peripherical.
The government announced that in 2019 it will invest $578 million in the completion of Line 2 and in the construction of the branch that goes from the Technological University to Tocumen.
Although Line 2 must be operational in April 2019, Metro de Panamá announced that in January it will bring into operation five stations and 12 of the 20 wagons that the Line will have, in order to meet demand foreseen during World Youth Day.
The pre-feasibility study for the new master network includes estimates of future demand up to 2040, and recommendations on the location of stations for lines 2A, 4 and 5.
The study recommends starting with Line 2A, as this would complete Line 2 and would significantly ease the exchange at San Miguelito and Line 1, by giving users the opportunity to head to the city center through Ave.
The Municipality of Villa Nueva is calling on companies who are interested in the concession, for a period of 25 years, of the first Municipal Line of the Public Air Transport Service by Cable Car.

The new regulation for the transport technology platform establishes that the service can be provided exclusively in the provinces of Panama Oeste, Panamá, Colón and Coclé.

The Municipality of Guatemala claims to have the permits to use the airspace in streets of the capital and Mixco, and needs an endorsement from the CIV before the route to be used can be decided.
Although last November it was indicated that at the end of that monththe specifications wouldbepublishedto grant in concession the construction and operation of the cable car or aerometer, some procedures and permits have yet to be completed in order to proceed with the tender process.
Three underground railway lines with a large central exchange station is the basic concept for a project valued at $6 billion.
