The Attorney General's Office is recommending to the Constitutional Court that it reject the appeal which seeks to outlaw the power of the taxation department to proactively collect tax debts.
The appeal to the Constitutional Court by a group of taxpayers is still under consideration by the judges and although there is still no resolution to this effect, the Attorney General of the Republic "... supported the power of the Treasury to collect advanced payments of taxpayers tax debts. "
For the third time a suspension has been enacted for the payment of the $18 fee for inspecting containers using scanner machines at customs offices in El Salvador, and will be in effect until January 15, 2015.
Once again the Legislature has decided to continue the suspension of the fee for non-intrusive inspections, this extension will take effect on December 1st.
The government has announced that it will stop the outsourcing of tax collections and reestablish it as a function of the Directorate General of Revenue.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Dulcidio De La Guardia, also announced the elimination of the National Tax Authority, created in the previous administration, and the management and collection of taxes will go back into the hands of the General Revenue Department.
A bill has been presented which creates the state-owned company Metro de Panamá S.A. whose entire stake is to be held by the Panamanian government.

The bill creating the company Metro de Panamá S.A. was presented by the Minister of the Presidency, Roberto Henriquez, before the National Assembly after the announcement came that this system of mass transit will begin operations in March 2014.
The Government will again invites bid the financial management services for $ 15 million.
The first bid held on October 8th was declared vacant.
This system will consist of an alternate payment mechanism to the exchange system, to be implemented and operated by an independent Financial Manager of Transportation.
The State will sign the contract with the Financial Manager and ensure it will receive remuneration according to the service, passengers carried and other terms and conditions of the Concession Agreement.
The government will introduce in November a second bidding process for the installation and operation of a payment system for the public transport.
The first contest with participation of four companies, Sonda of Chile; Confya formed by Colombians, Venezuelans and Panamanians; Metrorecaudo of Panama and Colombia, and Panama Card, was declared vacated by the Transit and Land Transport Authority.
