Central American citizens who have traveled to the United Kingdom four times in the last 24 months will have access to fast-track windows at airports and other British border controls.
An article by BBC World reports that this system facilitates immigration procedures for 16 countries, of which 12 are in Latin America,"... using the "Registered Traveler" scheme, which allows frequent visitors to pay £70 (about US $85) a year to avoid having to fill out a landing card and to access the windows for passengers from the UK and EU. "This method did not previously include citizens from any Latin American country.
The delay in the construction of the convention center in Amador and the lack of specific promotion are part of the factors that are preventing exploitation of the potential offered by the country for this tourism segment.
Tourism entrepreneurs believe the country has the basic conditions to become a specialized center for convention tourism, as it has air connectivity, a strategic location, hotel infrastructure and tourist attractions such as the Canal, but this is not being properly utilized.
A new trade mission to Germany involving local companies is being coordinated by the German-Nicaraguan Business Club and in September companies from the European country will arrive in Nicaragua.
The German government's initiative intends to further strengthen business and trade relations between the two countries. In 2013 Germany was the fourth largest international purchaser of Nicaraguan products.
From July Delta Airlines will fly once a day nonstop from Los Angeles to the capital of El Salvador.
The U.S. carrier Delta Airlines will begin operating a new route between San Salvador and Los Angeles on July 2 this year.
A press release issued by the airline indicates that "the route is pending approval by the government and will be operated using a Boeing 737-800 with 160 seats, including 16 Business Class seats, 18 seats in Economy Comfort and 126 seats in Economy. "
The current occupancy rate of 57% can be explained by the increased supply of rooms and the relative decline of San Jose as a business destination.
The increased supply of hotel rooms in the capital is one of the reasons for the low level of occupancy, which as of January stood at 57%. This occurs mainly in hotels that attract business travelers or tourists who spend up to two nights prior to departure.
The increasing international mobility of "business travelers" does not have adequate regulation in terms of taxes or migration.

From 2013, the Directorate General of Immigration will be taking measures for a more efficient implementation of the sanctions provided for in Article 33 of the General Law of Immigration, Law No. 8764. According to these rules, the sum of one hundred dollars in U.S. currency ($ 100) will be charged for each month of illegal stay in the country to people who do not meet the requirements of the law in this area.
New immigration regulations state which foreigners require visas to enter the country and the length of their stay.
