EGS Guatemala has announced the expansion of operations in customer services, billing and back offices for telecommunications and energy.

Guatemala, March 15, 2016. The Minister of Economy, Ruben Morales, participated in the inauguration of EGS's third site in Guatemala, Primma 2. This company belongs to the call center and BPO sector, one of the two sectors covered by Decree Law 19-2016.
The cost savings achieved by outsourcing all kinds of services has fueled the growth of this form of contracting in the country.
The rise of this type of contract services in Guatemala has led to companies in the sector creating the Union of Companies in Human Resource Outsourcing (Gesth).
Ivan Martinez, president of the Gesth told Prensalibre.com that "...Currently, the Gesth comprises of eight companies.
There are 285 multinational companies operating in the region, employing more than 87,000 bilingual people.
The figure was revealed by Javier Chamorro, executive director of ProNicaragua, during the Central American Nearshore Summit 2013, which is being held in the Central American nation.
"Costa Rica and Guatemala are the two nations that have attracted the largest number of companies in the outsourcing industry, with a total of 191.
In Guatemala, telephony, retail sales, financial activities and services offer the best remuneration at managerial levels.
The survey Business System Salary Information by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), reveals that it is in the area of services where executives receive more economic benefits, equivalent to $5,350 a month on average.
Prensalibre.cvom reports that "Brenda Guzman, Organizational Development Consultant at PWC, said local managers in the industrial sector on average receive per month Q36,400 ($4,644) as a concept of economic benefits, including salary bonuses .
As part of its expansion plan in the region, the utility plans to open two new call centers in Guatemala this year.
The new centers will employ about four thousand workers, one will be opened in the capital and the other in the province, said Manuel Apraciio, director of Transactel in Guatemala.
"The executive said the company's expansion is part of a new $11 million investment of planned for this year in Central America, of which about 65% will go to Guatemala," reported Prensalibre.com.
With a $11 million investment the company opened new headquarters in Transactel Tower.
During the inauguration Mario Lopez, Vice-President, announced the company expects to create 3,000 new jobs in Central America in 2011.
Elperiodico.com.gt reported the executive stating: "... we are looking for a new building in Guatemala, the one we have is already filled, we should have it by the first half of 2011."
