In order to replace the contracts that will soon come to an end electricity distributors are preparing to launch tenders in the coming months for the supply of 380 MW.
It is expected that in the coming months approval will be given by the National Electric Energy Commission (CNEE) for the distributors Empresa Electrica de Guatemala (EEGSA) and Energuate to start the tender processes.In the case of the first entity, the tender will serve to replace a contract with the San Jose plant, which provides 120 MW.
Four consortia made up of companies from Panama, Colombia, the USA, Mexico and El Salvador have been pre qualified for the project for Vehicle Registration and Driver Licenses.

A total of four consortia were shortlisted for the Project for Operations, Finance and Administration of the Registry of Vehicular Property Nationwide and Implementation in Vehicle Inspection Centers, Supply of Number Plates, Awarding of Drivers Licenses, Modernization of the System for Sanctions for Traffic violations and Modernization of Fine Collections.
A proposal has been made for the extension of the route to Ciudad Pedro de Alvarado, valued at $280 million and abandoned by the original contractor, to be divided into sections and assigned to local construction companies.
The construction company Sigma, whose legal representative is involved in the State Cooption case has desisted from continuing the work of expanding to four lanes the route to Ciudad Pedro de Alvarado, for which it had been allocated $280 million from a CABEI loan.
