On May 12 and 13 a conference on quality management will be held in San Jose which will focus on the sectors of health and safety.

San Jose April 28, 2016. The Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce (MEIC), as rector of the National Council for Quality and technical bodies made up of: the National Agency for Standardization (INTECO), the Technical Regulation Body (ORT), the Costa Rican Metrology Laboratory (LACOMET) and the Costa Rican Accreditation Entity (ECA), is promoting the First International Conference on Quality, on May 12 and 13 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Corobici.
On August 24th and 25th companies and public institutions will meet to discuss issues such as standards and quality management, as well as taking part in a business roundtables for the industrial sector.
The new standard establishes quality requirements for six different types of hydraulic cement and recommends that the maximum use by date of the product be set by the manufacturer.

November 2015. In order to establish the parameters and specifications to be complied with by different types of cement products used in the country, the Institute of Technical Standards of Costa Rica (INTECO) approved the norm INTE 11/15/06: 2015 "Hydraulic Cement - Requirements and Specifications ", which aims to guarantee the quality of this product and also serves as a reference for the technical regulations for the marketing of cement in the country.
Certification processes in Good Manufacturing Practices in companies in the sectors of food and beverage and pharmaceutics will be financed by up to 80%.
Support for the program "Export to Quality" aims at improving the level of quality defined by companies in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical chemist, so that they can access markets in the United States and Central America, complying with regulations and standards of product quality demanded by consumers. The program provides certification in Good Manufacturing Practices through the development of specialized training modules and technical assistance given to participating companies for which the financial support of 80% of program costs will be provided and linkages will be made with other funding sources such as FONDEPRO and Bandesal to develop projects that improve the productive infrastructure of the participating companies.
The International Standards Organization plans to publish the new ISO standards 14001: 2015 on environmental management in September of 2015.

In order to respond to market changes and demands, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) plans to publish the new ISO standard 14001: 2015 on environmental management in September 2015.
The air link with the capital is one of the reasons behind the increase in the supply of rooms in the province, a number which is expected to rise to 3,000 by the end of the year.
Currently the Tourism Authority of Chiriqui is running a pilot scheme to improve the quality of the hotels in the province, since most are rated at three stars. At the end of 2014 only 700 rooms offered 5-star amenities and average costs range between $80 and $300.
If it wants to compete in the big leagues of single-origin coffee, the Nicaraguan coffee sector must focus on getting designations of origin.
In Nicaragua there are five areas that are considered to be those with the highest levels of quality and these have great potential for certification of designation of origin and geographical indications. Competition for position in the demanding international market becomes fiercer if you do not have this certification.
The government of Honduras plans to convene an international tender to select a company which will certify the quality of fuels.
The bill on Fuels Marketing will include monitoring fuel quality, a task that initially was to be performed by a laboratory which was installed with the team needed for certification, but as the initiative was unsuccessful, it was agreed instead to hire an international company "... to certify the quality of gasoline permanently."
The event will be held on August 25th and 26th in Guatemala City and will deal with issues related to quality systems and accessing markets with GlobalGAP certifications.
