The Central American Integration Bank approved the awarding and signing of contracts for various works, which together amount to $36.6 million.
The funds are part of the Debt Conversion Program of Honduras against Spain, which is administered by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), reported the multilateral organization.
The deadline for submitting bids in the tender for project management of works on the concession for the International Airport in Palmerola, Honduras has been postponed until November 7.

"The Commission for the Promotion of Public-Private Partnerships (COALIANZA) is calling on national and international consulting firms individually or in a consortium to participate in an International Public Tender for the review of the technical dossier and supervision of works in the concession of the International Airport at Palmerola in the Republic of Honduras. In October the concessionaire Investments EMCO will start building the new terminal in Honduras, which will have an area of over 26,000 square meters, twice as long as originally planned.

The approval of the contract by the Congress of Honduras authorizes the State to co-fund with $76 million the project awarded to Inversiones EMCO.

The National Congress approved in a session on Tuesday, in a second debate, the contract for the construction of Palmerola international airport and the new Law on Decentralization of the State of Honduras.
In this regard, approval was given on a second reading, of the the draft decree sent by the Executive Branch, which contains the concession contract for the project "Design, Construction, Financing, Operation and Maintenance of Palmerola international airport of the Republic of Honduras. The approximate cost of the project is 163 million dollars and the contract for the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the International Airport in Palmerola, which was signed on March 31, has a concession period of 30 years.
Honduran businessmen project that exports will increase when the new airport starts operating, and they are negotiating with the concessionaire for the cargo area to be larger than planned.

Increases in the value of land have been reported along with the arrival of new businesses to the area, where the municipality is hoping to encourage investments by leaving taxes on real estate unchanged.

Advanced Logistics Group is revising the airport design, analyzing the structure of the $110 million investment and preparing a new tender.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Utilities (Insep) together with Coalianza is holding meetings with the Spanish company Advanced Logistics Group (ALG) to structure the specifications for the new tender, review the investment program and design of the airport terminal.

The Commission for the Promotion of Public Private Partnerships (COALIANZA) has awarded to Constructora de Servicios Aeroportuarios Integrados S.A.(SAISA), the Contract for the Design, Financing, Construction, Maintenance and Operation of Palmerola International Airport, which will be located in the city of Comayagua, on the road axis between Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula.
The company which is already operating other airports in Honduras was the only one to provide a technical and financial proposal for the award.
The Honduran company Servicios Aeroportuarios Integrados S.A. (Saisa), a subsidiary of Terra Group, submitted the technical and financial offer after being shortlisted along with the consortium of Colombian origin Concay SA, who ultimately decided not to present a proposal for the construction of the new terminal.
