With 20 years at the PMA Summit, Guatemala is looking to lead the Central American region in the exports of fresh produce.
The importance of the sector for Guatemala was reflected at the PMA Summit with the presence of 130 exhibitors and delegates from the country (no counting external visitors). The Minister of Agriculture himself was present at the stand to dialog with potential investors and buyers from all around the world.
President Álvaro Colom of Guatemala announced a minor Cabinet reshuffle in which Celso Cerezo takes over from Eusebio Del Cid as health minister and Julio Recinas replaces Raúl Robles at Agriculture.
"These changes are meant to make improvements in the government's team," Colom told a press conference. "And thank God there's no need for a transition. The new ministers were already in the team and those who are being replaced will continue to be part of it."
