The administrator of the Panamanian International Airport has 300 hectares available to grant in 20-year concessions to logistics companies, hotels, hospitals, and for use as offices.
Tocumen SA is currently considering three concession models for managing the air cargo in 2013, which totaled 110 thousand tons. The restructuring of the business includes the development of facilities for light manufacturing plants.

According to Juan Carlos Pino, general manager of the state run company, Hyundai's local representative, Elevadores del Istmo, "is not able to install the conveyor belts."
The bonds will be issued in July and August, and the funds will be used for the airport's expansion program, said the operator of Tocumen International Airport.
According to the Minister of Economy, Frank De Lima, the securities will be issued both in the local and international markets, but the percentages for each have not yet been established.
"We are waiting for the rating agencies to finalize their report for the international component and for auditors to deliver audited financial statements and then we will carry out the issue," he added.
The company which manages the main international airport in Panama now has a borrowing limit of $650 million.

The Cabinet gave the green light to amending Cabinet Resolution No. 168 of December 18, 2012, which authorizes Aeropuerto Internacional de Tocumen, S. A. to have access to various sources of local and international funding, funds which will be used for the expansion of the North and South terminals (new cargo area), land purchase from the University of Panama (UP) and payment of loans.
Panama's government has backed down and decided that the airports in Rio Hato, David and Colon, will be administered by Tocumen SA.
Rafael Barcenas, director of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said that they found a way for three new airports, which will not be profitable in the short term, not to become an administrative burden that hinders securing the funds they need to build the South Terminal at Tocumen airport, which will have an investment of $679.4 million.
Tocumen SA has been ordered to temporarily suspend the tender to select the company that will oversee the construction of the South Terminal.

CSA Group Panama, Inc, claims that they changed the evaluation criteria to qualify the experience of the participants, as it originally stated that 10 points would be allocated to bidders attesting to being hired in Panama, in the last five years, for at least 10 consulting services in the area of public infrastructure for private or public entities.
The bond issue is announced for mid-year, as part of the financing for the construction of the South Terminal.
Juan Carlos Pino, manager of the company, estimates that the bonds will be issued at the end of June or early July.
The funds will be used to expand the capacity of the existing terminal. "We need to build new taxiways to speed the transit of aircraft in the terminal in the rush hours," said Pino.
The administrators of Tocumen International Airport in Panama, expects to raise about $500 million from the tender for tax-free shopping areas in the South Terminal.
With the tender they expect to contribute to funding the construction of the new planned an expansion of the north terminal, estimated at about $400 million, said Juan Carlos Pino, manager of Tocumen SA.
The base price established in the tender was $2.3 million and the selected firm must provide 2,500 seats and 13 display counters.
The administrators of Tocumen SA have resumed the bidding process for the purchase of chairs and furniture for the northern terminal at Tocumen International Airport, reported Prensa.com.
This process was suspended for two months because 9 of the 10 companies interested in participating requested that the administrator of the international airport give more time to so that they could meet the specification requirements.

Air conditioning, garbage collection and X-ray inspections are some of the services that the airport has contracted directly, after having signed emergency declarations, the prequisite to exempt them from the contractor selection process.

Seven airlines in Asia, Europe and the UAE are discussing starting direct flights to Panama because of its facilities as a connection center for Latin America.
The most advanced negotiations are with Lufthansa and British Airways, said the manager of Tocumen S.A., Juan Carlos Pino.
