Citing existence of diseases in shrimp farms in Hondurans, Mexico is evaluating banning the import of shrimp from the Central American country.
Early Mortality Syndrome disease, which has caused losses in the Mexican states of Sonora, Sinaloa and Nayarit, is not present in shrimp farms in Honduras, said the Aquaculture Association of Honduras, which believes that the measure will cause serious damage to the sector .
This year the Association of Aquaculture is projecting an increase of 25% in exports.
