Cell phone users can keep their phone number regardless of the operator they choose from 2010 onwards.
In an article in Elheraldo.hn, Luis Rodríguéz wrote: "Some six million cell phone users in Honduras will own their numbers beginning in 2010 which will allow them to select the operator that best meets their telecommunication needs. This was established by the number portability regulation which is almost ready, according to Edwin Torres, commissioned Conatel owner. He added that Honduras could be the third Latin American country to adopt this system. The first two to put it in place were Mexico (June, 2008) and Brazil (October, 2008)."
