A constitutional court has rejected appeals by port unionists and announced that the construction of the Container Terminal at Moin will begin in early 2015.

San José, Costa Rica, October 9. The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the Costa Rican Government and APM Termináis in an appeal filed by the port workers unión against the 33-year concession contract for the new Moin Container Terminal (TCM) in Limón on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.
The Attorney General has calls on owners of Hotel Punta Teonoste to bring a trespassing issue to court and expressed willingness to open a dialogue.
The Attorney General of the Republic of Nicaragua, Hernan Estrada, has moderated his position on the occupation of private lands used for investment in tourism, Hotel Punta Teonoste, inviting the family who owns the hotel to take the matter to the courts of appeals.
Guatemalan authorities stated that there is no evidence to substantiate alleged damage to the environment, and that they won’t shut it down unless the OAS orders it.

The Maya allege Marlin put metals in water supplies, damaging the health of local people, according to a University of Michigan study. The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, an arm of the Organization of American States, has given Guatemala until June 24 to close Vancouver-based Goldcorp’s mine while the claims are investigated”, reported Bloomberg.
