The German airline Condor has announced that from November it will be adding two flight frequencies per week from Munich and another one, also weekly, from Frankfurt, both going to San Jose.
Condor will fly from Munich International Airport to Juan Santamaria in Costa Rica starting from November 8, once a week with a Boeing 767-300 with a capacity for 259 passengers, the company said in a press release. In addition, the airline will operate another frequency per week from Frankfurt, which will make three weekly flights.
From October the German airline will operate two weekly flights from Frankfurt, in an attempt to transport more German tourists.
The German airline Condor has responded positively to requests from the Panamanian authorities and confirmed last week that will increase its weekly flights from one to two on its route between Frankfurt and the airport of Tocumen (with one 30 minutes stopover in the Dominican Republic).
From October, the airline will fly twice a week to Panama City from Frankfurt, in response to increased tourism from the Germans.
The additional weekly flight by the airline Condor will be every Tuesday from 16 October to Panama City, from Frankfurt, Germany. Until now, the flights have been on Fridays, reported Laestrella.com.pa.
Since last Friday, the German airline started its weekly flight to Panama City.
The flight takes off from Frankfurt on Thursdays and arrives at Tocumen airport on Fridays after a 45 minute stop in the Dominican Republic.
Joanna Ledezma, manager of Condor in Panama, told Prensa.com that "...the airline maintains a code share agreement with Copa Airlines, which will allow passengers to use the Tocumen air hub to make connections to other destinations in Latin America."
Ernesto Orillac, spokesperson for the Panamanian Tourism Authority (ATP), added that negotiations are also well advanced to establish a direct flight between Panama and Japan operated by an Asian airline.
The Tourism Minister informed they are having talks with two companies, and they could announce good news next year.
Currently, there are few flights between the country and the European Continent (Iberia operates a daily frequency, and Condor two per week). According to the tourism authority, this is limiting the growth of the industry.
