Some of the niches with great potential are renewable energy and recycling, said Julio Salcedo, president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry of El Salvador (CAMAC). He also pointed out sectors like pharmaceuticals, agro food industry and skin care.
Entrepreneurs from Spain will engage in business meetings with their Salvadoran counterparts for the next three days.
This trade mission is composed by 21 companies from the machinery and construction equipment industries, as well as information technologies and others.
Trade between both countries has increased as of recently, according to the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in El Salvador. Prensa.com reports: "Salvadoran exports to Spain increased from $59.3 million in 2006 to $103.8 million in 2008 (74% increase) ... imports from Spain reached $91 million in 2008, up from $83 million in 2006".
