The business sector has agreed with the Congress of Nicaragua on the revision of the bill to regulate the functioning of business groups.
Laprensa.com.ni reports: "The decision was made after hearing the positions of the American Chamber of Commerce of Nicaragua (AMCHAM), the Nicaraguan Council of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Conimipyme), the Superior Council of Private Enterprise (Cosep) and binational business chambers comprised of Nicaragua with Mexico, Italy, Spain and Germany. "
At the opening of the Guatemala Investment Summit the country was presented to 259 entrepreneurs from 26 countries as an attractive investment destination.
In addition, another 1,000 people attended the event which organizers say is the largest activity for attracting investment which has been held so far in Central America. "This event is the most important for investment promotion in the region. We are positioning Guatemala as an investment destination, in order to generate more formal employment, which the country needs," said Sergio De la Torre, head of the Ministry of Economy.
They are interested in finding out about the legal certainty offered with Guatemala and incentives that favor businesses who decide to settle in the country.
According to Alex Yang, CEO of the Halo industrial zone, located in Shanghai, they are looking to bring about solid business deals. Yang said that the visit is exploratory and the information collected will be taken back to China to show to interested investors who want to know about Guatemala's incentives for settling there.
There will be additional credit lines for investments in areas where the U.S. government assistance program is carried out.
"Currently, there are 67 expressions of interest for investment in projects to be implemented in the coastal zone, and that number could rise to 80, with a new call be undertaken by the Government in the next few days", reports Diariocolatino.com.
ProMéxico is preparing, for sometime in June, a trade mission to Costa Rica and Guatemala for SMEs from the sectors of fresh and processed foods, plastics, and the automotive industry.
