American Airlines plans to begin operating flights from the Honduran cities of San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa to Dallas in the United States in June 2019.
The airline has announced that next year it will begin operating four flights a week between the Dallas International Airport, Fort Worth and San Pedro Sula, and from the same U.S. air terminal in Tegucigalpa, three times a week.
Starting from June 7 American Airlines will operate a daily flight between the capital of Nicaragua and the US city of Dallas.
The new route will operate once a day departing from the International Airport in Managua, Augusto C. Sandino bound for Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport, from where it will return to Managua, in the afternoon.
The airline reported that the new flight will be available from June 7 but reservations can be made from now.
As of November 23, American Airlines will offer a direct flight on Saturdays between Dallas International Airport and Roatan.
In addition, the airline announced it will increase the Miami-Roatan frequency to three flight per week, also in November. These new flights will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Elheraldo.hn reports: "The flights between Roatan and Dallas-Fort Worth and Miami will be operated with a Boeing 737-800 with 16 seats in business class and 134 in the main cabin."
The airline announced that as of June 12 it will provide an additional flight on Wednesdays between Miami International Airport and the airport Juan Manuel Galvez in Roatan, Honduras.
"Currently, the flight operates on Saturdays using a Boeing 737-800 with 150 seats and the new frequency will be on Wednesdays," reports Laprensa.hn.
The flight will depart Miami at 1:20 pm and arrive at 1:25 pm at Roatan, while leaving from the island it will depart at 2:30 pm and arrive at Miami at 6:50 pm.
Due to an increase in demand, from June 12, American Airlines will start up a second frequency between Miami and Roatan.
This was confirmed by Verna Osorto, director of the airline in Honduras, who explained that the decision reflects the growing interest of American tourists in the Honduran destination, who since last November have had a direct flight between Miami and the island.
The first American Airlines flight arrived on November 17 at Juan Manuel Gálvez Airport, officially marking the opening of the route.
The new service will operate weekly with a Boeing 737 aircraft with 16 seats in business class and 144 in the main cabin.
The newspaper Proceso de Honduras reported statements by Art Torno, American Airlines Vice President for Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America who said: "Today is an important day for American, as we expand our network in Central America with the addition to Roatan, our third destination in Honduras and our tenth in Central America.
From November 17th American Airlines will operate a weekly direct flight between Miami and Roatan.

Tourism Minister Nelly Jerez today announced the opening of a nonstop Miami-Roatan air route, expressing satisfaction that this service with American Airlines places the island as a world class destination easily accessible from major airports in the U.S.
The airline has opened a new frequency on the route Miami - Managua, making the total of three flights per day.
Juan Manuel Gomez, general manager of the airline in Managua, said that with the new frequency they estimate a 33% increase in passenger numbers from the U.S. to Nicaragua.

Starting June 11th, American Airlines will operate a daily flight between El Salvador and the Texan city of Dallas, U.S.
The new route will be served with one Boeing 737-800, which includes 148 seats, 16 in executive class and 132 in economy.
“Currently, American operates two direct daily flights between El Salvador and Miami International Airport. There also a daily flight to Los Angeles”, reported Elsalvador.com.
Starting November 22, the airline will operate an additional frequency in the San Salvador - Miami route.
Eduardo del Pozo, American Airlines General Manager for El Salvador, explained that this new frequency will be available until April 4th, 2010.
"The flight will depart from San Salvador 4 times a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays", reported Mariana Belloso for Laprensagrafica.com.
On November 18th, American Airlines will add a third daily frequency for its Panama - Miami route.
The flight will be operated with a Boeing 737.
