The Free Trade Agreement between both countries comes into effect today.
Of the entire product universe, 53% will enjoy 0% tariff between both nations. For the rest, the removal of tariffs will be gradual, between 5 and 15 years.
Alvaro Concha, director of the Colombian Trade Office for Central America and Panama, told newspaper Prensalibre.com that "Colombian businessmen have high expectations for this FTA".

Since the ratification of the FTA between both countries, investment in tourist, health, and financial services have stirred the interest of Colombian entrepreneurs.
Exports from Colombia to Guatemala have shown an increase of 22% this year thus far.
