$ 11 Million for Works at Honduran Customs

Works include construction of the Puerto Cortés office which will be tendered during the first quarter of the year.

The start of construction of the mega office of Puerto Cortes is scheduled for next June.

The work plan also expects the construction of a new office in El Amatillo (border with El Salvador).

Customs Director, Miguel Mejia, told Elheraldo.hn that funds will come from the Inter-American Development Bank and from own resources.

Mejia stated, "We project that by the end of this administration at least 10 customs offices will be remodeled."

The Treasury Department has announced that it has opted for leasing a new building in which to transfer the facilities, "to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, without affecting the customs operation or the requirements of its customers".
