San Jose, January 26, 2016 -Uber has announced the establishment in Costa Rica of its first Center of Excellence in Latin America. The center will create more than 300 jobs by the end of this year.
With the aim of including San Jose in its growing network of centers, Uber will also invest $3.5 million this year. Uber is looking to immediately recruit the first group of 25 customer service specialists, which will allow the center to start operations in the coming weeks. The company will continue hiring 25 more people every two weeks in order to reach the goal of 300 local jobs this year.

Roche Pharmaceuticals has announced an investment of $5 million to expand its service and distribution center, from where it serves 23 countries in the region where it operates.

Heredia, Costa Rica. -12 August 2015 The pharmaceutical company La Roche today inaugurated its new service and distribution center in the country, which will optimize its operations serving 23 countries in Central America and the Caribbean. Thanks to the investment of $5.5 million, the company will also expand its storage capacity for biotechnology products and implement cutting-edge technologies in the building, committing to the highest environmental and energy saving standards in the world.
Citi Financial Group is expanding operations at its shared service center in the country, where it caters for operations of the corporation at a global level.

The President of Costa Rica Luis Guillermo Solis joined Citi in the official opening of its new facilities.
Costa Rica has established itself as service center for international companies, who are encouraged by its human capital and the fact that it is in the same U.S. time zone.
About 110 service companies in the free zone generated $1.66 billion in 2011, equivalent to 33% of the county’s total exports.
$300 million will be invested over the next ten years to build a new center for information technology services, creating 1,000 jobs by 2014.
