Turkey Looking for Business in Central America

The union of exporters and the Turkish government are proposing setting up a business center in Panama that will function as a platform for trade with the rest of the region.

The aim of the Turkish Exporters Assembly is to explore business opportunities in the region, using Panama as a central point and from there to presenting its exports not only to Central America but also to South American countries.

Capital.com.pa reports that "...some Turkish companies are even considering the possibility of locating factories in this business center some in order to comply with the rules of origin and in that way take advantage of the extensive network of Free Trade Agreements (FTA) that Panama has, which will allow preferential access to major markets such as Canada, the United States, Taiwan, Singapore, Chile, Peru and Central American countries. "

After participating in a business conference with businessmen the president of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Musytafa Cikrikcioglu, "... stressed that the meeting between Turkish and Panamanian businessmen is a vital element in the interest of both countries through an increase in bilateral trade, an area in which, in his view, there is much room for growth, as in 2015 Turkey's exports to Panama totaled only $166 million those from Panama to Turkey totaled $19 million. "

The opening of the Turkish Embassy in Costa Rica and the setting up of a commercial office in Ankara in Turkey will help boost trade between the two economies.

The Turkish government's interest in this region has been confirmed with the announcement by Turkish Airlines of flights between Panama and Turkey which will start on May 4th. There will be three weekly frequencies which will stop in Bogota.

Trade between Turkey and Costa Rica

Representatives of the Costa Rican Chamber of Trade and the Foreign Economic Relations Board in Turkey are seeking to open a space in order to generate business between the two countries.

From a statement issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Costa Rica:

The Chamber of Commerce of Costa Rica and the Turkish Embassy in the country will receive on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, a Turkish business delegation that arrived in the country on behalf of the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK) and which includes members of the Business Council of Turkey - Central America and the Caribbean of that institution as well as important representatives from the Turkish business sector.

Panama: Expocomer Goes Global

The participation of countries such as India and Turkey at the trade fair taking place from 26th to 29th of March reflects the interest in the region that exists globally.
