Country loses showcase opportunity with the change of venue for the Under 17 Women's World Cup

Thursday February 28, 2013.
At the news issued by the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA), which confirms that Costa Rica will no longer host the Women's World Cup in the under-17's category that will take place in 2014, the National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR) regrets the loss of an opportunity like this to promote the country as a tourist destination.

"It is unfortunate that our bureaucratic system affects us to the point that opportunities are missed. The tourism sector lost a chance to showcase to the world the destinations and culture offered in Costa Rica", said Juan Carlos Ramos, President of CANATUR.

In the view of CANATUR tourism entrepreneurs had very high expectations and the news was definitely received like a bucket of cold water, as this meant they also lost the possibility of seeing an increase in the number of tourists to the country.
