Trade Between Costa Rica and Peru

Employers in Peru and Costa Rica will explore potential business in the areas of food, clothing, cosmetics, foodstuffs, lubricants and paints.

Businesses can not wait, and even though a free trade agreement with Peru is still passes through the bureaucratic cliques of the Legislative Assembly of the Central American country, Peruvian entrepreneurs have taken the initiative and organized a business meeting with colleagues from Costa Rica.

This Thursday April 19th a Business Appointment will be held organized by the Exporters Association of Peru, informed the Peruvian Embassy in San Jose, according to Prensalibre.cr.

About 20 Peruvian companies will take part along with their Costa Rican partners. The participants operate in the sectors of jellies and jams, powdered soft drinks, clothing, cosmetics, foodstuffs, lubricants and paints. "The purpose of the business meeting is to share experiences, exchange information and evaluate opportunities to promote and develop joint business with Costa Rican importers," said Karen Diaz, business consultant, from the Embassy of Peru.

Costa Rican businesses from all sectors will be involved in a business negotiation event with Panamanian companies on Thursday in San Jose.

According to Katherine Chavez, director of foreign trade of the Costa Rican Chamber of Importers (Crecex), the organizing body, 170 domestic firms will have about 30 minutes to present their products and services and finalize new business.
