Construction of New Wind Farm Begins in Nicaragua

Infima Renovables Company signed up the contract for the construction of a 40 MW wind farm at Rivas, Nicaragua.

Infima Renovables, a company that has decided to expand its operations to Latin America, has just signed an agreement of outsourcing with Lacayo Fiallos Construction Company to design the project, conduct studies, supervise the construction and purchase the equipments for this Nicaraguan wind farm, dubbed "La Fé-San Martin".

This project will start next week with the arrival of a team of engineers from INFIMA to Managua and the wind farm should start operating in September of 2011.

The wind farm La Fé-San Martin is composed by 22 Vestas 1.8 wind turbines capable of 1.8 MW each one, that have already been purchased.

For its Latin-American development, Infima Renovable has hired Cuban Engineer Ronys Rivero Rodriguez which, as Manager, will be responsible for opening these new markets.

Costa Rica: 80 MW Wind Farm

The Spanish companies Gamesa and Iberdrola Ingeniería have signed a contract with Globeleq Mesoamerica to build and operate four wind farms, each producing 20 MW each, in the province of Guanacaste.

The project is called Alisios and includes the construction and operation under the turnkey format, of four 20 MW plants: Vientos de La Perla and Vientos de Miramar, located in the region of Liberia, and Altamira and Campos Azules, in the Tilarán region.

Honduras: 50 MW Wind Farm Starts Operations

An announcement has been made of the launch of a wind power generation plant built and operated by the company Terra Energy in San Marcos de Colón, in the department of Choluteca.

The plant has the capacity to generate 50 MW, with 25 wind turbines and is located south of the capital. The project required an investment of $100 million and was completed before the agreed time, three years.

The company has selected the wind turbine manufacturer Vestas, to begin its project in Nicaragua.

Vestas received an order for the manufacture of 22 generating units of 1.8 MW each, for the wind project ‘La Fé’ (The Faith), which will generate 40 MW of energy and will be located in San Martin, Nicaragua.
