Tender for Maintenance of Electrical Transmission Lines

The National Institute of Electrification in Guatemala is putting out to tender maintenance services for transmission lines.

The Instituto Nacional de Electrificación, INDE, through Empresa Transporte y Control de Energía Eléctrica is interested in receiving offers for the contract for "MAINTENANCE SERVICE FOR TRANSMISSION LINES".

The deadline for submission of bids is February 26, 2014.

Studies for Electric Transmission Line Resumed

March 2018

Commissions have been formed for Etesa to initiate technical, environmental and social studies, which will be used to decide the route the line could take within the Ngäbe-Buglé Region.

The commissions will have to specify where to build the structures for the electric transmission line with capacity for 280 megawatts, which will have an extension of 328 kilometers, of which 107 will be inside the region. 

Panama: Hub For Electricity As Well

Planned investments in the electricity transmission grid and interconnections with its neighbors could position Panama as a regional power distribution center.

Added to the construction of the third transmission line, estimated at $300 million-and whose works are 49% complete according to an announcement in May by the Electricity Transmission Company - comes a fourth line, to be built on the Atlantic area of the country.

On February 26 the contractor Odebrecht will start construction and will have a timeframe of 920 days to complete the work.

Starting February 26, the construction company Norberto Odebrecht will have 920 days to carry out the works for the third power transmission line. Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica S.A. gave the order to proceed on Wednesday.

Panama Rethinks Interconnection with Colombia

Among the plans to deal with the growing demand for electricity is building a fourth distribution line.

This would allow to maximize the capacity of energy flow and the transmission lines for Colon and Darien. There is also renewed interest in the proposed interconnection with Colombia, focusing on aspects such as lower costs, greater optimization and good roads.
