Herbicides such as glyphosate, 2.4-D and Paraquat are the main products exported, according to Alfredo Ortiz, head of a Guatemalan association of agricultural input suppliers.

"Guatemalan agrochemical products are sold throughout Central America, the Caribbean and South America. Some are sent to Mexico but, 'the biggest markets are El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. Very little is exported to Costa Rica since that country's domestic agricultural supplies providers receive tax benefits, putting Guatemalan companies at a competitive disadvantage,' says Ortiz," reports Sigloxxi.com.
