Panama - Dubai Flights Postponed

Emirates has announced that its direct flights from Panama to Dubai will begin on March 31 and not on February 1st, as originally planned.

The airline "... has postponed the launch of its flight between Dubai and Panama City until March 31, 2016, in order to be able to receive all shared codes of Central and Latin America."

Tvn-2.com adds that "... According to official information, the flight will travel 13,821 kilometers in 17 hours and 35 minutes and will be longer than the route between Sydney (Australia) and Dallas (USA), flown by the Australian airline Qantas Airways, which up until now was the world's longest non stop flight."

"... The new service, which will start with a daily flight, will use a Boeing 777-200LR aircraft capable of carrying 15 tons of cargo and 266 seats."

San José - Dubai Air Connection

The airlines Emirates Airlines and Jetblue Airways were approved to operate flights under a codeshare agreement between both cities, with connections in the United States.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica:

The Technical Council of Civil Aviation has approved a request by Emirates Airlines and Jetblue Airways, for the operation of flights under the codeshare concept between San José and Dubai, via points in the United States.  Emirates is one of the most sophisticated airlines in the world, flying with its fleet of 244 aircraft, all Airbus 380 or Boeing 777-300, to more than 160 countries directly or via shared flights. The company uses the Dubai International Airport as a base of operations. 

Panama - Dubai Flights Postponed Again

March 2016

Emirates airline has no new date for the intercontinental flight, but said it could be in late 2016 or early 2017.

Although Emirates airline had announced that the 17 hour and 35 minute Panama-Dubai flight would be inaugurated on 31 March, the company has once again postponed the date "until late 2016 or early 2017 as soon as conditions permit."

Dubai - Panama Direct Flights Announced

August 2015

The airline Emirates announced that starting from February 1, 2016 it will start operating a daily direct flight from Dubai to Panama City.

From a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry of Panama:

The historic flight connections is a result of an air services agreement signed between the Foreign Ministries of Panama and the United Arab Emirates.

Panama Wants More Air Connectivity

January 2015

The Tourism Authority has announced that it will be negotiating with Alitalia and Emirates Airlines to establish flights from Rome and the United Arab Emirates, and will seek to increase the flights with Iberia and Air France.

As part of these projects to increase air connectivity in the country, the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) is also expected to start operations soon with Aeromexico and Lufthansa.
