Shopping Mall Fever in Panama

Development of Shopping Malls is the most profitable real estate endeavor today, and not just in the capital city, but in all of Panama.

$160 million are being invested in 8 shopping malls around the country, showing the potential of this sector. Growing customer's demand for shopping venues is satisfied through new investments.

Panamanian's purchasing power has been on the rise in the past years, and consumers demand places of fun and recreation with family shopping options in nice and safe environments.

In his analysis of the subject, Kérem Pérez wrote in "Shopping mall fever hasn't stayed in the capital. Those living beyond the bridge are also enjoying these 'all-in-one' facilities."

Panama: After Houses Come Shopping Malls

The number of square meters of shopping centers and malls under construction amounts to 538,000, most of which is concentrated in the east of the capital and surrounding areas.

Restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets, banks and other premises predominate in the shopping centers and malls that are being built mainly on the outskirts of the city, where the supply of residential property is increasing, leading to a need for complementary commercial services. 

Costa Rica: New Mall Announced

May 2015

Expreso Mall will be located in Desamparados, in the Costa Rican capital, and will have 84 stores, and a supermarket and a hardware store as anchor stores.

Calle Nicata S.A., the Spanish subsidiary of Inmobiliaria Rio Omega, is the company in charge of the shopping center, which will offer commercial premises with sizes ranging from 15-350 square meters, of which "... 70% have already been negotiated."

Guatemala: $13 million Invested in Shopping Center

August 2014

The shopping complex to be built south of the capital on an 8 hectares area will be ready in late October 2014.

The project, by the company EU Desarrollos, will have "... 28 shops, plus eight large companies which will be installed in the site .... and a daily influx of 32,000 vehicles is expected."

Panama: Shopping Center in Costa del Este

July 2013

Benzar Holdings has invested over $40 million in Atrium Mall, which will boast 14,500 m² to retail space.

The new mall, construction of which is expected to be finished in about two years, will also have seven rooms for art cinemas, a play area, a spa, restaurants and bars.
