Imports of Liquid Pumps Recover

In 2017, purchases of liquid pumps from Central American countries totaled $230 million and grew by 17% with compared to the previous year, recovering the fall recorded between 2015 and 2016.

Variation of regional imports 
Between 2015 and 2016 the import value of liquid pumps and parts in Central America increased 17%, going from $197 million to $230 million. On the other hand, the value imported from Italy grew by 43% in 2017 with respect to 2016, increasing from $6 million to $9 million.  

Imports by country 
In 2017, the main importer of liquid pumps and parts in Central America was Panama, with $67 million, followed by Guatemala, with $53 million, Costa Rica, with $39 million, Honduras with $30 million, El Salvador with $21 million and Nicaragua with $19 million. 

Origin of imports 
In 2017, 45% of the value imported from Central America came from the USA, 8% from China, 6% from South Korea, 5% from Mexico and 4% from Germany.

In the last six years, South Korea has been the market of origin of imports that has grown the most, as in 2012 it represented 1% of regional purchases and in 2017 this figure reached 6%.
