Regional Imports Increase
Between January-September 2020 and the same period of 2021 the value imported into the region increased by 31%, rising from $314 million to $412 million.

For the periods in question, purchases from Mexican companies grew by 64%, from $25 million to $41 million.

Guatemala, Main Buyer
During the third quarter of 2021 the main buyer of soft drinks in Central America was Guatemala with $109 million, followed by Honduras with $91 million, Panama with $68 million, El Salvador with $59 million, Nicaragua with $51 million and Costa Rica with $35 million.

Major Suppliers
From January to September 2021, 24% of the imported value in the region came from Guatemala, followed by El Salvador and the U.S. with 18%, Costa Rica and Mexico with 10%.

During the second quarter of 2021, imports of fruit and vegetable juices in Central America recovered by 18% equivalent to 88 thousand tons, representing $68 million, coming from Guatemala as the main supplier.

Non-Alcoholic Beverages: $225 Million in Business

In the first six months of 2019, the countries of the region imported $225 million in soft drinks, 4% more than in the same period in 2018.
