San Jose vehicle restrictions in force for 13 hours
Starting today vehicular travel in Costa Rica's capital is restricted. Each day some cars will be prohibited from circulating, and the day of the week is determined by the vehicle's licence number.

The restrictions will apply for 13 hours of the day, although the government initially intended it to be in place for a full 24 hours.
From next month the scheme that prohibits vehicles from circulating within the central part of the country's capital will once again apply all day.
Starting next Tuesday, cars won't be allowed to enter the center of the city one day a week, depending on their plate number.
Restrictions on vehicles being driven in San José, Costa Rica will be broadened to apply all day long.
During the next three months the transit vehicle restriction will apply only during rush hours.
