Salvadorean coffee featured at Food Taipei 2008 expo

Sixteen Salvadorean coffee exporters are featuring their wares at Food Taipai 2008.

The Taiwanese Minister of Economy, Yiin Chiiming, described Salvadorean coffee as being "Aromatic, with excellent flavor and quality and slightly sweet."
In addition to coffee, Salvadorean exhibitors are presenting fresh fruits and vegetables, poultry products, seafood, meat, edible oils, health foods, canned foods, soft drinks and condiments.
The event in Taiwan's capital city continues until the weekend.

Coffee Sales Without Intermediaries

Four contracts for coffee deliveries for this harvest have been signed between Taiwanese companies and coffee producers from Guatemala.

The deals were made during part of a trade mission comprised of nine Taiwanese companies in the coffee sector, interested in opportunities in the coffee business, and strategic alliances for the purpose of jointly exploring the Asian market.

El Salvador Could Sell $2.5 Million Coffee to Taiwan

Local farmers reported that 18 containers would be shipped to Taiwan in the next harvest.

Representatives from 7 Taiwanese companies participated in business rounds with local growers and learned about the coffee production process.

“Although most growers have already committed their 2009 production, they expect to sell at least 18 containers to the Asian country”, reported Laprensagrafica.com.

Guatemala: world's fifth coffee exporter

Guatemala now corners 4.1% of world coffee exports and is the fifth exporter in the world. These figures reflect the current coffee year (October 2007-June 2008).

The National Association of Coffee (Anacafé) indicated that in the last three years, the Guatemalan producers have achieved that position thanks to the increase of their exports, which have hovered between 5.5 and 4.1 percent of global exports.

At the 18th edition of the international food show, coffee buyers from several countries were present. The show is considered one of the best opportunities for coffee producers anywhere in the world, according to Andrés Kafati, an executive from Molinos Café Maya.
